Free Diapers

Babycenter.com estimates that during a year first of your child's life you'll spend $864 on diapers. In the last year I've spent $0. It wasn't hard. Wanna save $864?

This is how I get my diapers for free: I subscribe to Amazon Mom (for free) and use their Subscribe & Save feature to get a 20% discount, then pay for the diapers with free Amazon gift cards I earn from Swagbucks. Total: $0.

Here are the details:

(To my Canadian friends: Amazon.ca doesn't sell diapers, but Swagbucks does offer Amazon.ca gift cards, so you can get free stuff from Amazon, just not diapers. Sorry guys.)

Amazon has a program called Amazon Mom. You save a total of 20% off their regular price on diapers if you choose to start the Subscribe and Save Option. Subscribe and Save signs you up for regular shipments of the same thing, but after you place your order you can cancel the Subscribe and Save if you want to and Amazon doesn't care. For an example of how this deal works, check out these diapers:

You can order this box of 140 diapers for $34.25, but if you're a member of Amazon Mom you get 15% off. Then, if you order them with their Subscribe and Save feature you get an additional 5% off. As you can see in the blue box, the price drops to $27.40. Sweet, right? But that's still a chunk of change for something my kid's just going to poop in. So the next part is getting free gift cards so that the $27.50 doesn't actually come out of my pocket.

I get most of my gift cards from Swagbucks, a search engine that gives you points for just searching the internet. (If that sounds scammy to you, remember, search engines like Google and Bing make money every time you do a search. That's how they fund their businesses. It's because you see new advertising appear every time you do a new search. The more people there are using a search engine, the more they can charge advertisers for space on their pages. So Swagbucks attracts people with rewards.)

When you use Swagbucks to search the internet, every few searches a message comes up saying you've won, usually between 7-12 Swagbucks (more on Fridays). You don’t win every time you search, and there’s a limit to how many times you can win in a day, so you can’t just search endlessly and keep racking up the points. I just use it as often as I would any search engine, though I do use the internet a lot. Just use it like you would your regular search engine and the points build up pretty fast.

Once you accumulate 450 Swagbucks, you can redeem that for a $5 Amazon gift card, though there are other prizes too. There are other ways to earn Swagbucks as well, like surveys and something they call Swagbucks TV, but I have often been able to get enough points to buy giftcards without these if you use the search engine regularly. Even if you don't earn Swagbucks fast enough to get all the diapers you need for free, you should be able to pay for a big chunk of them with your Amazon cards from Swagbucks. If you're interested in joining Swagbucks, you can use this link to sign up. I will earn Swagbucks for referring you, and then, if you tell others about it, you’ll have your own referral link they can use to sign up and it will earn you extra Swagbucks. This will help you earn Swagbucks even faster, and it will help your friends get free stuff too: win/win!

When it comes to redeeming your points for prizes, like gift cards, I have found Swagbucks to be super easy to use. I've never had a problem not getting my gift card codes (although you do have to wait 7-10 days before the code "arrives" in your account). Oh yeah, and don't set up more than one account for your household. My husband had one for a while, but it was shut down and he lost his points. I'm lucky I didn't lose my account too. So just stick to one. But definitely invite your friends and family to sign up with your referral code, and you won't believe how fast you start earning Swagbucks.

Like I said, even if you don't earn enough gift cards to order your diapers free, hopefully you can at least get a great price. Oh, and you can get wipes from Amazon this way too, I do.

Good luck! And if you have any questions, post them in the comments, I'd be happy to help.
